Robbery is one of the most commonly charged juvenile offenses and includes a wide range of conduct. Many juveniles have been charged with Robbery for stealing small items from a store when they run from store security or display “toy” guns, stealing property from a classmate when an assault is involved,or stealing property from strangers when a struggle ensues. The hallmark of Robbery is that the accused has used force to obtain or retain the property. This often comes up with kids who are in groups and take something they should not such as an I-Pod. Even if the intention is to return the property the crime of Robbery may be charged.
